Les oreilles décollées...

Felicia, 36, Administrative officer, Denver

My ears stick out, but that doesn’t bother me that much since I cover them with my long hair. However, I decided to teat myself and correct them with an ear surgery to feel good about myself.

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is designed to reposition and reshape disproportionate or irregular ears. Ear defects (structure, proportion or position) can be present since birth, develop over time or caused by an accident.

Three main types of ear defects can be found. When the ears are unfolded, the defect concerns the plication of the ear cartilage. When the ears are projected forward, it is the cartilage of the concha that is too big. More frequently, the angle formed by the auricle of the ears and the head is too wide : the ears sticking out significantly. One or more of these defects can be present at the same time. Children can’t undergo ear reshaping surgery before the age of 8 because cranial growth isn’t complete.

Surgical technique

A pre-operative evaluation will determine if the surgery can be performed safely. The procedure is carried out under general or local anesthesia, depending on the patient and lasts approximately an hour. The main stages of the surgery are the following :

  • The surgeon lifts up the skin to expose the cartilage and reshape it
  • The angle between the head and the ear is narrowed with deep sutures : the ears return to a normal position

Ear surgery patients usually stay at the clinic overnight under medical observation.

For children, general anesthesia is administered whereas adults can choose local anesthesia combined with a light sedation.

Given the incision site is located behind the ears in their natural fold, the scars are not easily noticeable. Bruising and swelling will occur, the ears will return to their usual state approximately a month after the surgery. Loss of sensitivity can last a few months therefore protection against cold and heat is advised (cold weather, blow dryer, etc.). It is also recommended to avoid sun exposure during the recovery. A headband must be worn during 10 days day and night following surgery. Patients will have to wear the headband for 15 days during sleep after that. Painkillers are prescribed if necessary to avoid discomfort and pain.

Length of stay

Otoplasty patients stay 5 nights / 6 days in Tunisia.

The cost of an ear reshaping surgery in Tunisia is 1600€. That price includes your stay in Tunisia and the surgery. You won’t be asked for anything more than what’s in your personal quotation.

For our ear surgery patients, we usually schedule 4 nights and 5 days in a 4 stars hotel (single room and full board) since they spend a night at the clinic under observation before being discharged. Transportation between airport / hotel, hotel / clinic is provided. Our all-inclusive offer doesn’t include extras at the hotel or at the clinic such as drinks and phone calls.

The cost of the procedure includes the fee of the surgeon and the anesthesiologist, clinic charges, postoperative care and pharmaceuticals. You also have the option of reducing your expenses by traveling with a friend or a family member who also scheduled a cosmetic surgery with Estetika Tour.

We're not around right now. But you can send us an email and we'll get back to you, asap.
